But all this talk of cake has made you crave it, or at least wonder about it (Jamie). So here's the recipe:
CHOCOLATE PRALINE CAKE
In heavy saucepan, melt together: ½ Cup butter ¼ Cup whipping cream 1 Cup brown sugar
Pour into 9x13 pan. Sprinkle 1 C. chopped pecans evenly over caramel mixture. Prepare devil’s food cake mix as directed on package and spoon carefully into pan(s), beginning around edges first. Bake at 325 50-60 minutes. Cool 5 minutes, then invert onto a serving plate. Cool. Serve with whipped cream.

I thought I recognized this recipe. I have seen it in a family favorites recipe book somewhere before. I'll have to try it!
Thank you! Thank you! I love this cake. I made it for "J's" birthday back in college and of course didn't write the recipe down. To think you had it all the time. Now I am going to go check your recipe book to see if it is in there, than I will feel pretty daft. I am can make the cake for his birthday, than he'll say I am his forever...again. YAHOO!

Okay, feeling pretty silly. It was in my hands the whole time (your recipe book). To my defense I didn't recognize the name:( I was looking for it on the side of a cake mix box all this time.

To Jamie, So you cook, too? What is your favorite cake?
to anybody,
I am working on the third edition of my recipe book. I put out a new edition at the marriage of each of the children, but it may be awhile before Jesse gets married, so I'm going ahead with a new edition anyway. Let me know if you want a copy!
Cooking is part of the natural order of things. I guess I would say cooking is a shared event at our home. Both of us work to teach the kids how to survive on something besides Top Ramen when they leave home. I'll let you know what my favorite cake is after I try your recipe..
